This item is out of stock

A pretty and striking ring from the mid 20th Century, c1960s. The ring is made from 9ct gold and has four strands of gold that meet together at the back of the finger. The gold strands are set apart at the top of the finger and interspersed with claw set turquoise gemstones. Often harem rings have a little gold ring at the back of the finger that holds the bands together. In this instance, the gold bands are soldered together permanently. Harem rings hold their origin in Turkey and the word 'haram' in Turkish means 'forbidden place' or 'sanctum'. They were mainly given as wedding rings and represented the sanctity of marriage.

In this particular case, the turquoise has a beautiful hue and the ring is very pretty on the hand.
