Vintage 9ct Gold Masonic Gents Swivel Signet Ring
An unusual and interesting ring from the second half of the 20th Century, dated Birmingham 1975. The ring is made from 9ct gold and has a swivel panel at the top, which has the Masonic compass on one side picked out in lovely vibrant blue enamel. It is then plain gold on the other. The panel can be turned so that the ring can be worn either way.
The Freemasons are a closed society and members take an oath on joining vowing to keep what they learn from inside the ranks to themselves. As such, this ring is ideal in this respect as you can wear it to meetings with the enamel and compass showing and turn it the other way for daily wear. A ring to protect your secret.
As it is, it is a lovely piece either way and though it is a gentleman's ring, it could also be worn by a woman.
