A beautiful and striking ring from the middle of the 20th Century, c1960s/70s. The ring is made from 18kt gold and is an example of a 'harem ring'. These rings are traditionally Turkish and were an alternative type of wedding ring. The word 'harem' is a derivative of the Turkish word 'haram' meaning forbidden or sacred place. Now, these rings are mainly decorative and this is a beautiful example of this striking design. There are four individual rings bound together at the back of the finger and each one has alternating turquoise and diamond gemstones. Diamond and turquoise is such a beautiful combination and the width of this ring makes it a real statement piece.
