A quirky pendant from the mid to late Victorian period, c1880. This is a lovely piece of banded agate with the classic colors of shades of brown with the white band running through the stone. The agate has been carved to form the shape of a book, with the spine showing the little ridges that you would expect from a classically bound book. There is a concave shape where you would expect the pages to be on the opposite side. The fittings are gold colored metal.

This would make a lovely addition to any charm collection or could be worn alone on a chain or black ribbon as a striking necklace. Here it hangs on a 14kt gold fill chain that is 18" long and is included in the price.
