SOLD Victorian 18ct Gold Ruby & Diamond Cluster Ring in Box
A wonderful ring from the late Victorian period, dated Birmingham 1896. The ring is made from 18ct gold and has a full and clear British hallmark on the inside of the shank. To the centre is a beautiful deep red ruby; it really has a wonderful depth of colour and sits perfectly in the claw setting. Surrounding the ruby is a circle of old mine cut diamonds. All are claw set and original to the ring. The shoulders of the shank have leaf-like indentations on each side, which give the ring a lovely point of difference and finish it perfectly.
The ring will come in the ring box pictured. This is how the ring came to me, though I do not believe it is the original box as the maker from the hallmark. WG&S, is a Birmingham maker, not a London one (London address on the box). Regardless, it is a lovely little ring box and this cluster sits perfectly inside it.
