Victorian 14kt Gold Large Decorative Locket
A wonderful pretty locket from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The locket tests as at least solid 14kt gold and appears likely to be French in origin due to its construction and the lovely original glass inner. It has beautiful gold wire work to the front and back with the same pattern replicated on both sides. There is a little diamond shaped panel at the centre and an X design to complete the look. The locket has a lovely large bail allowing it to be worn on a larger chain if desired. Inside there is the original hinged glass panel that can be opened to allow you to place your photo behind. The gold of this locket is almost two tone with the central panel having a very slight rosy hue, while the wirework panels take on a bright bloomed gold appearance.
The chain pictured is for display only.
