SOLD Late Victorian Pink Tourmaline 5 Stone Ring
A pretty and simple ring from the end of the Victorian period, dated Birmingham 1900. The ring is made from 9ct gold and has five pretty deep pink graduated gemstones set across the finger. The gemstones test as pink tourmaline and exhibit elements of double refraction inferring that this is the case rather than almandine garnet. These two gemstones do carry very similar characteristics and the double refraction element goes some way to distinguish them. Either way, these lovely deep pink stones are very eye-catching and are slightly graduated in size. The style is classically Victorian and this ring could be worn as part of a stack or alone. The centre gemstone has a fairly large inclusion in the centre; this has been reflected in the price.
