Georgian 12ct Bicolour Gold Locket Ring
A rare and pretty ring from the Georgian period, c1800. The ring is a simple design and has a lovely locket compartment as the centrepiece. The gold is bicolour with the locket 'door' being slightly rosy in colour, whilst the surround of the locket is yellow gold. The shank has a more rosy glow again. The ring has been electronically tested and is made from 12ct gold. It is likely that there would have been a lock of hair inside the locket as either a love token or as a mourning piece. This has disappeared at some point in the rings history.
The ring has been well-loved and there is evidence of some lead repair throughout, particularly on the inside of the locket (please see the photos). A lovely and rare piece of history that still seems so timeless today.
