Edwardian 14kt Gold 'In Memoriam' Pearl Ring
An unusual and interesting ring from the Edwardian period, dated July 14th 1912 on the inside of the shank. The ring is a memorial ring and has 'In Memoriam H.F.W.' in block lettering around the setting. The unusual element here is that the letters are set into niello rather than enamel and this gives this ring an alternative edge. To the top, a pretty pearl has been set in the centre and this is surrounded by some gold applications to the surface. A fairly simple ring, which to my mind brings the look of a porthole! To the underside is the original locket back, which has been made expertly to follow the curve of a finger. A pretty and unusual ring of the utmost quality.
