SOLD Art Deco Sterling Silver Butterfly Wing Wren Pendant
A pretty pendant from the Art Deco period, c1930s. The pendant is made from sterling silver and has a lovely design created from a butterfly wing. This technique uses the wonderful iridescent blue wing of the butterfly as part of the piece and then a design is reverse painted into the glass that covers the wing to complete a picture. In this instance, the butterfly wing is the main part of the body of a wren. The lovely little fat bird has come to symbolise accuracy and watchfulness and it is unusual to find a subject such as this in a piece of butterfly jewellery. The lovely teardrop shape finishes the piece beautifully.
The pendant will come on the sterling silver chain that measures approx 16" long
